Over Rs 31 Lakh construction material stolen from Pune Metro site

Pune: It has been reported that construction materials worth Rs 31 lakh, including base jacks, footplates, horizontal rods, and butterfly couplers, were reportedly stolen by unidentified persons from the Balewadi site of the Hinjawadi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Nagar metro line.

As per information from the FIR accessed by Pune Pulse, the incident happened between November 18 and December 19, 2023, even with MahaMetro’s strict security measures in place. Construction materials worth a total of Rs 31,43,000 have been stolen.

The supervisor, 25-year-old Ritesh Balu Pradhan, filed the complaint. Overseeing the security of the building materials for Pune Metro Line 3 from PMR 14, Ganraj Chowk, Balewadi, to PMR 20 Khairewadi, Ganeshkhind Road, is Pradhan’s responsibility.

Between November 18 and December 19, 2023, engineers carried out routine checks on the distributed construction material, and during those checks, they discovered the theft. Pradhan reported the incident to the Chatuhshrungi police station after noticing that the base jack, footplate, horizontal rod, and butterfly coupler, which were valued at Rs 31,43,000 were missing.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons at Chatuhshrungi Police Station under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is underway.
