‘Oxygen Express’ to travel from Kalamboli to Vishakhapatnam and bring 110 metric tonnes oxygen to Maharashtra in 5 days

Shortage of oxygen to critical patients of Covid19 has become a serious issue for many. The increasing demand for liquid oxygen is rising ever since the number of patients are rising in Maharashtra. To resolve the problem even after putting restrictions on oxygen producers in the state to produce 100 percent oxygen for medical purpose only the shortage was not met.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in his recent interaction with the citizens had informed that he shall speak to the prime minister Narendra Modi to allow Air Force to transport liquid oxygen to Maharashtra by air. But now for th first time the government plans to bring liquid oxygen from Vishakhapatnam to Kalamboli for which a lot of preparations were on with full swing.

This is for the first time that seven oxygen tankers will travel from railway tracks. Minister for state transport Anil Parab Gabe green signal today to the Oxygen Express.

This oxygen Express will bring 110 metric tonne oxygen within five days will reach Maharashtra and the shortfall of oxygen can be met to a certain extent.

The state transport department, food and drug administration authority were constantly following up with the central government, railway ministry on the probable ways of transporting the oxygen tankers on its height, electrification of the railway tracks, etc. The right size of tankers were identified and shortly Boisar station was prepped up and trial of running empty tankers was taken which was successful. Soon Kalamboli station was prepped up and shortly trial run and roll on and roll off on plain wagon were taken and green signl was given by 7 pm on April 19,2021.

Each tanker weighs 16 metric tonne and are specifically designed for this from companies such as Inox Air products, Taiyo Nippon Sanso, Air Liquid, Linde.

This oxygen tankers will be provided with Green Corridor in which these tankers will reach Vishakhapatnam in one and half day.

These tankers will be filled at Rashtriya Ispat in two days and will be back within one and half day. A total span of five days will be taken to reach Maharashtra.
