The state of Maharashtra has been going through a tough time due to surge in Covid19 cases for the past one month. The shortage of oxygen and unavailability of beds has made it even tougher for many critical patients.

In its attempt to ensure that the citizens are hale and hearty, the state health department has advised the citizens to check on their functioning of lungs by taking a simple six minute walk test.

This simple test can be conducted in house and also by those who show symptoms of Covid19.

According to the guidelines issued by the state health department, an individual showing Covid19 symptoms will have to check their oxygen level by using an oximeter before beginning the test. The individual needs to walk for six minutes without taking a pause. This test must be taken by walking on a flat platform by holding the oximeter on the finger. After six minutes, if the oxygen level does not go down the individual will be considered healthy.

Patients suffering from asthma are advised not to take this test. Also, the citizens who are above 60 years can take this test by walking for three minutes instead of six. This test will help in detecting oxygen deficiency in individuals and may also help in admitting in the hospital at the right time.
