Nagpur: A distressing incident occurred on April 25 aboard the Gorakhpur Express, as more than 40 passengers fell ill after consuming egg curry and biryani served during dinner. The Central Railway’s Nagpur division has launched an investigation into the matter.

Passengers partook of the meal while the train was stationed at Nagpur railway station around 10 PM. Shortly after departing Nagpur, many individuals began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning.

The following day, railway medical staff provided assistance to the affected passengers at Jhansi. Authorities have taken swift action in response to the incident, sealing the ‘Jan Ahar’ outlet on platform no. 1. Concerns have also been raised regarding passengers who purchased ‘veg thali’ from the same outlet.

Reports indicate that authorized food vendors loaded approximately 300 food packets onto the train from Balharshah station. Notably, the train operates without a pantry car, adding complexity to the investigation.
