Passport Application Chaos: Technical Glitch Halts Process On Passpoort Seva Portal Nationwide

Thousands of people hoping to apply for passports were left in limbo as the Passport Seva portal ran into technical problems, causing disruptions in both online applications and appointment bookings at Passport Seva Kendras across India.

For the past three days, hopeful passport seekers have been dealing with inconvenience due to the ongoing technical glitch. Despite attempts to reach out, officials from the Passports Seva division of the Ministry of External Affairs have not responded to inquiries.

Confirming the issue, a spokesperson from the portal’s toll-free helpline mentioned that bookings were halted because of problems with the portal.

“Due to some technical issue, the website has been inaccessible for the last three days. Our technical team is actively addressing the problem. Unfortunately, we haven’t received a definite time frame for service restoration. Consequently, appointment bookings have been suspended,” remarked the helpline representative.

As of now, the website indicates: “Website is under maintenance. We will be back on 30 Mar 2024 by 19:55 hrs.”

The affected portal, passportindia.gov.in, plays a crucial role in facilitating appointments at 523 Passport Seva Kendras, Post Office Passport Seva Kendras, and regional passport offices.

These appointments are necessary for various passport-related services, including fresh issuance, reissue, and miscellaneous requests. With the technical issues persisting, applicants remain unsure about when the passport application process will return to normal.
