PCMC appoints squad to take action against illegal cutting of trees

Despite repeated instructions from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), trees are being felled illegally at various places in the city. 

Hence, Deputy Commissioner of Garden Department Ravikiran Ghodke has informed that separate teams will be appointed on behalf of Garden Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to prevent this type of crime and penal action will be taken against those who cut down trees illegally by these teams.

As per information, unauthorized tree felling incidents are happening frequently in the city. The garden and tree conservation department of the municipal corporation has noticed that a large number of trees are being felled for advertisement boards in various parts of the city. 

The trees under the jurisdiction of the private as well as the municipal corporation are being cut down without permission and the municipal corporation has started taking strict steps to curb this tree cutting.

P. C. M. T Chowk Bhosari, Dehu Alandi Road, Gawli Matha behind Solid Waste Transfer Project and near Cutfast Company F-2 Block Wundercar Showroom at MIDC Bhosari, in front of Sairaj Publicity Fashion Shop at Jadhavwadi Chikhali, in front of Tulja Bhavani Temple at Akurdi and Dudulgaon Ranjangaon Park, several trees were illegally felled to put up advertisements. 

As soon as this matter came to the notice of the Municipal Corporation, on behalf of the Department of Parks and Tree Conservation, a criminal offense under Maharashtra Cutting of Trees Act, 1964, Section 3(1), Maharashtra Cutting of Trees Act, 1964, Section 4, Maharashtra Cutting of Trees Act, 1975, Section 21(1) was registered against the owners of the respective billboards. Penal action has been filed.
