PCMC Begins Comprehensive Preparations for Swachh Survekshan 2026
Pimpri, January 19, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated extensive and systematic preparations across the city for the Central government’s Swachh Survekshan 2026 cleanliness survey.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, and with the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Thengal and Assistant Commissioner Amit Pandit, the Health Department has rolled out several innovative and result-oriented cleanliness initiatives.
As part of this drive, special emphasis is being placed on strengthening the city’s solid waste management system, encouraging citizens to consistently segregate wet and dry waste, promoting home composting at the household level, and expanding the network of RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) centres. In addition, zero-waste projects are being effectively implemented in various parts of the city to reduce the overall volume of waste sent to landfills.
The Health Department is actively involving citizens, housing societies, commercial establishments, schools, and colleges through awareness campaigns, on-ground demonstrations, guidance sessions, and inspection visits. Counselling is being provided at locations where waste segregation is not followed, while citizens and institutions adhering to the rules are being encouraged and appreciated.
To improve the city’s performance in Swachh Survekshan 2026, PCMC is also focusing on training sanitation workers, enhancing the use of machinery, introducing technological improvements, and ensuring continuous monitoring. Along with cleanliness, the campaign aims to promote environmental conservation and achieve sustainable urban development.
