PCMC constructs smart public toilets in Pimple Saudagar

Pune: With an aim to provide good quality public toilets, Pimpri Chinchwad Smart city Limited has constructed smart toilet at Jagtap Dairy, Pimple Saudagar.
Shekhar Singh, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation commissioner inaugurated the facility for the public on Tuesday.
Sharing his thoughts about the same, Nana Kate, corporator from Pimple Saudagar said, “Wherever there is rush, we are planning to construct a smart public toilet. Important thing is to find the space for the toilet. We cannot build it on a private property. In the linear garden, two smart public toilets are ready and it will be inaugurated soon. In RajMata Jijau Garden as well we have constructed one toilet. We wanted to construct a public toilet near Shivar chowk but PCMC does not have designated space. We are planning to build one more public toilet in linear garden.”
Makarand Nikam, city engineer (civil), PCMC said, “We planned smart toilet in 25 locations in PCMC.”
Residents are happy with the initiative and they are expecting more such facilities in other parts of the city as well, said officials.
Amol Godbole who stays near Shivar garden said, “Kokane chowk is a very crowded place, PCMC should construct a couple of public toilets in this locality too.”
