PCMC Demolishes 30 Illegal Structures in Thergaon to Accelerate Road-Widening Project

Pune, June 2: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Tuesday demolished 30 illegal structures in Thergaon that were obstructing a road-widening project.

The action was carried out along the road stretch between Lemon Tree Hotel and Morya Banquet Hall under the jurisdiction of PCMC’s ‘G’ Regional Office. Officials removed 30 unauthorised structures, clearing approximately 1,888 square metres of encroached land.

The operation was conducted by the Encroachment Removal Department under the directions of PCMC Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi and Additional Commissioner Tupi Sandhor. Regional Officer Mukesh Kolap supervised the demolition drive.

Support for the operation was provided by the Traffic, Electricity and Town Planning departments. Several municipal officials, police personnel, Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) staff, labourers and JCB machines were deployed during the drive.

According to PCMC officials, the road-widening project is essential for improving traffic flow and enhancing road safety for commuters. They stated that any illegal structures obstructing development projects will continue to be removed in accordance with the rules.

Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi appealed to citizens to cooperate with the administration in implementing development projects and improving the city’s infrastructure.
