Maharashtra Weather Alert For June 3: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Rain, Thunderstorms in 18 Districts
Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Nashik, Nagpur and several other districts likely to witness rain, lightning and gusty winds; Konkan faces hot and humid conditions
Maharashtra, June 2, 2026: Pre-monsoon weather activity has intensified across Maharashtra, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue multiple weather alerts for June 3. While several districts are expected to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds, parts of the Konkan region have been placed under a heat alert.

A Yellow Alert for rainfall has been issued for 18 districts across Western Maharashtra, North Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. In addition, some districts without an official alert may still experience light to moderate rainfall.
Heat Alert for Konkan Region
The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for hot and humid weather in four Konkan districts:
- Palghar
- Thane
- Mumbai
- Raigad
Residents in these areas have been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during afternoon hours and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg have been placed under a Yellow Alert for rainfall, with the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds in some locations. Wind speeds may also increase along coastal areas.
Rain Alert for North Maharashtra
A Yellow Alert for rain has been issued for:
- Nashik
- Ahilyanagar
Although no official alert has been issued for Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon, the weather department has forecast light to moderate rainfall in isolated parts of these districts.
Western Maharashtra Likely to Receive Rain
The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for:
- Pune
- Kolhapur
- Satara
While Sangli and Solapur are not under any official alert, localised rain showers are likely in some areas.
Marathwada Under Yellow Alert
Rain alerts have been issued for:
- Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
- Beed
- Latur
- Dharashiv
No official warning has been issued for Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded, but cloudy skies and light rainfall are expected in some parts of these districts.
Thunderstorms and Lightning Expected in Vidarbha
Seven districts in Vidarbha have been placed under a Yellow Alert for rain and thunderstorms:
- Bhandara
- Chandrapur
- Gadchiroli
- Gondia
- Nagpur
- Wardha
- Yavatmal
The IMD has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds in these districts. Citizens, particularly farmers, have been advised to take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves, livestock and agricultural produce.
With pre-monsoon activity gaining momentum across the state, authorities have urged residents to stay updated on weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall, lightning and strong winds.
