PCMC gears up for the city beautification & sanitation competition 2022

The urban development department of the state government is conducting the city beautification and sanitation competition 2022. The competition which started on October 2, 2022 goes on till December 31, 2022.

The criteria for the competition include beautification of central squares, major buildings and roads, subways, flyovers, lakes, reservoirs, sculptures and major heritage sites in the city.

To participate in the competition, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been working on certain aspects of the city at a rapid speed. The focus is on the flyovers, foundations and heritage sites. PCMC also plans to include LED lighting and illuminate major locations. Slums are to be cleaned and door-to-door garbage collection will be introduced. The corporation will focus on waste segregation and plastic ban would be implemented strictly. The benefits of the government schemes would be given to sanitation workers and many more. These plans are being implemented in the 90-day action plan.

On the chowks – Rajiv Gandhi bridge, Sangavi Phata, Rakshak Chowk, Sai Chowk, Kalewadi Phata, Dange chowk, Mukai chowk, Bhakti Shakti chowk and Nashik Phata Chowk – the municipal authorities are working on getting the roads repaired and are also putting up traffic islands to facilitate smoother traffic flow.
