PCMC gets two unique vehicles for improving air quality in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pune: To improve the air quality in the city, two state-of-the-art vehicles under the National Clean Air Program were inaugurated on Thursday by Shekhar Singh, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner at the main administrative building of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in Pimpri.

As per information, Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, Ulhas Jagtap, Joint City Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni, Deputy Commissioner Ravikiran Ghodke, Assistant Commissioner Yashwant Dange, Chief Security Officer Major Uday Jarande, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Public Liaison Officer Prafulla Puranik were present during this inauguration.

As per the recommendation of the 15 Central Finance Commission, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been sanctioned funds for air quality improvement, conservation, supply and water management and efficient solid waste management measures.

The City Action Plan under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s National Clean Air Mission has been approved by the Central Pollution Control Board. Accordingly, to improve the air quality in Pimpri Chinchwad city, the roads of the city will be cleaned by 2 vehicles with a road washer system. Due to this, the amount of dust particles on the city roads will decrease.

Also, a movable fog cannon dust suppression system has been installed on 5 vehicles to reduce air pollution in the main squares of the city. If the said system is operational, the level of air pollutants such as PM-10, PM-2.5, SOX, NOX etc. in the area where the system is installed will be limited, informed Sanjay Kulkarni, associate city engineer.
