PCMC launches helpline for children to address Covid19 related issues

In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Maharashtra, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has set u a helpline dedicated to address issues related to Covid19 among children. This helpline will be run by the school children.

The initiative is taken in anticipation of a third wave of Covid19 which as per the experts might become a concern for children. The main aim of initiating this helpline to make children fear free, ” informed Rajesh Patil, Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. 

A meeting was held with school teachers, principals and a few selected parents and students. The students who will run this helpline are mainly from Class 7-9. 

How can the students communicate their problems ? 
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has set up an email id where the children can send their queries. [email protected]

Rajesh Patil while giving information about the helpline said, “Children can share their concerns with their teachers on [email protected]We are also drafting a questionnaire which they can fill up and send. Students who shall run this helpline will be provided with information regarding and shall be given training about how to identify symptoms and treatment for Covid19.” 

The meeting was attended by Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial hospital Dean Dr Rajendra Wable, Vikas Dhakane, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PCMC,Parag Munde, Sanjeev Wakhare, Jabbin Sayyed, Anil Gaikwad and Vaishali Nanaware.

How will the helpline function ? 
This helpline shall be available only for a restricted time. PCMC is making arrangements in such a way that the children can attend the calls from their homes.
