Amid the rising possibility of second wave of Covid19 in the city, PCMC is likely to restrict movement of people during Christmas and New year Eve celebrations to avoid spread of the Covid19 cases.

Health experts have warned that November December months are potential months where cases might increase dure to movement of people at public places ahead of festivities.

Christmas and New Year parties would be restricted as we have received an update from the mayor of the city, Usha Dhore.

According to the updates recieved from the Mayor of the city, the guidelines which were issued during Diwali will be mirrored during Christmas and New Year, too. The bars and restaurants recently came back to life after being locked for months. This guideline will be a huge setback for clubs and pubs who were looking to generate income during New Year party. The possibility expressed by the mayor comes after her interaction with commissioner, Shravan Hardikar.

PCMC Police, too, will be deployed for strict vigil in the coming period of ten days before the end of December. The Mayor has suggested that she may even speak with the commissioner to keep a strict vigil on the crowd gathering, or violating social distancing norms. “It is very important for people to understand that new year celebration or mass gathering can surely bring a rise in the cases of COVID, which may in return power the possibility of second wave of COVID-19.”

Pune Pulse tried reaching out to Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, but he did not respond back to the frequent calls.
