Power cut during work from home for straight twelve hours has left the residents of Long Island Society in Moshi fuming. The residents reached out to Pune Pulse around 11:00 PM, sounding clueless about the situation when neither the MSEDCL nor the society builder wanted to take accountability for the power failure in the 12 storey housing society in Moshi.

Krishna Tripathy, a society resident reached out to Pune Pulse at 11 PM on 16 December 2020, when a team of MSEDCL, led by Executive Engineer, Subhash Dhapse, attended the complaints by the society members, but remained action less as the HT Bushing of the electric panel were found in poor condition. The team left the site without repairing, and hence the residents had to spend their night without electricity; thus, keeping deprived of their basic rights by the society builder.

Pune Pulse reached out to Arvind Jain to escalate the issue. Upon questioning the inaction by the builder, he said, “I have handed over the society two years ago. It is not MSEDCL who have to take care of the issue.” He also denied about poor quality of HT Bushes used in the electric panel: “It is complete false and baseless.”

Another society member, Kapil Diwate, while escalating his concern to Pune Pulse, said, “Work From Home is hindered due to 24 hour power failure. Who is responsible for it when the builder is not holding any accountability for the issue, yet he should have resolved the issue as such issues are handled till five years from the time society is handed over to the members.”

MSEDCL Executive Engineer, Subhash Dhapse, while talking to Pulse said, “Honestly, the builder should be resolving this issue and not us, because as per the rules, the builder holds responsibility till f the society is not handover.” The society was handed over in 2018.
