Pimpri, July 16, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will establish state-of-the-art, odour-free waste processing centres at multiple locations across the city instead of setting up conventional waste collection depots, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi informed the General Body meeting.

The issue was discussed during the municipal meeting held on Tuesday, where members deliberated on measures to address the large accumulation of waste at the existing waste collection depot and processing facility in Moshi. The concentration of waste at a single location has emerged as a major concern.

Speaking during the discussion, Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi clarified that the civic administration has decided to develop modern waste processing centres across the city rather than creating additional waste depots. The proposed facilities will be equipped with advanced technology and designed to operate without causing foul odour, aiming to improve waste management while reducing environmental and public inconvenience.
