A budget of Rs 8,676.80 crores was presented by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) today for the fiscal year 2024–25.

As per further information shared by Pravin Jain, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer, PCMC Accounts Department, this ambitious budget was unveiled today (Tuesday), and it includes sponsored programs from the federal and state governments as well. Notably, no adjustments were made to taxes or fares in light of the approaching Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, and municipal elections.

The budget was presented to PCMC Commissioner & Administrator Shekhar Singh in a special meeting. The budget was swiftly approved by the administrators, making PCMC’s 42nd fiscal plan. Commissioner Singh was notably in charge of his second budget. Ulhas Jagtap, Vijaykumar Khorate, and Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale were present at the function.

Following are some major points of the budget:

·         For the purpose of running eight zonal offices, Rs 190 crores.

·         1,863 crores of rupees for development projects.

·         Rs 1,898 crores will be allocated for programs that uplift the urban poor.

·         The amount allocated for the executing special construction schemes is Rs 1,031 crores 79 lakhs.

·         Rs 65 crores and 21 lakhs will be allocated to programs serving the disabled.

·         Rs 61 crores 58 lakhs for different women-benefiting programs.

·         In relation to Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), it is Rs 269 crores 89 lakhs.

·         A budget of Rs 269 crores 89 lakhs for projects related to water supply.

·         Rs 50 crores for the Smart City project.

·         Rs 100 crores will be used to acquire land.
