PUNE: Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad, and Vinay Kumar Choubey, Commissioner of Police have appealed public to cooperate with the administration ensuring that the upcoming Ganesh Utsav celebrations, scheduled to take place from September 19 to 28, are conducted in an eco-friendly, peaceful, and safe manner.

As per the information provided, it is recommended that Ganesh idols made of clay, metal, wood, stone, alum, or paper pulp be installed instead of those made of POP. Donations for the festival should be accepted voluntarily and in accordance with government guidelines. The instructions provided by the government and police agencies regarding the arrival and immersion procession of Lord Ganesh must be strictly followed.

Public Ganeshotsav mandals that have a designated location for installing idols should ensure that the pandals do not obstruct traffic. Additionally, they should take measures to install CCTVs in the area where the idol of Lord Ganesh has been placed. Precautions should be taken to manage crowds during the aarti and puja, and the use of electric lights and loudspeakers should be within legal limits. Public mandals are encouraged to use audio-visual or digital media to provide citizens with the darshan of Sri Ram and Shri Ganesh. Efforts should be made to provide the facility of Lord Ganesh Darshan online, through cable networks, websites, Facebook, and other such platforms. Care should be taken while carrying out programmes and activities on the premises.

The mandals are advised to take necessary precautions during the arrival of the invited VIP invitees. It is imperative to avoid any untoward incidents due to overcrowding. The public mandal area should be kept free of flower garlands, coconuts, sweets, prasad, and other such items. As per the Maharashtra Government Act, the use of plastic bags and other plastic items is prohibited and should be avoided. During Ganeshotsav, seasonal food vendors will not be permitted on footpaths. It is essential to maintain open space to allow for easy passage of ambulances, essential service vehicles, and auto-rickshaws.

As per the provisions of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, loudspeakers should not be used within a radius of at least 100 meters around hospitals, educational institutions, courts, dispensaries, and boards should use loudspeakers sparingly. The Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad City, appeals to all to take fire prevention measures in the area where Ganesh idols have been installed.

Volunteers, activists, and citizens present near the mandal should refrain from consuming alcohol, and individuals who have consumed alcohol should be prevented from approaching the mandal’s premises. Gambling in any form is strictly prohibited. If any unknown, suspicious, or unclaimed objects such as suitcases, radios, large watches, food boxes, bicycles, etc., are found, or if a suspicious person is seen lurking around, the police should be informed immediately. Ganesh mandals with valuable ornaments on the body of Ganesh idols should take special care to protect them. Mandal workers or private security guards should be present round the clock to safeguard the idols and prevent overcrowding.

Guidelines for Citizens on Ganesh Visarjan

It is recommended that individuals should prefer to immerse their Ganapati and Gauri idols at home and donate them. Ganesh mandals are advised to prioritize the ritual immersion of Ganesh idols near the pandal, preferably in an artificial pond. On the day of Ganesh visarjan, every regional office of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will provide flower-decorated chariots for the collection of idols. Idol collection centers will be available in every ward of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, and vehicles will be provided to transport the idols for immersion. Two conveyor belts will be available at each immersion site for the immersion and additional conveyor belts will be made available if required. A route chart will be published for the collection of idols of the decorated chariot in each ward, according to which citizens and mandals should donate Ganesh idols and give flower waste.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Administrator of Pimpri Chinchwad City have instructed that the Ganesh idols collected by the Municipal Corporation will be immersed ceremonially and purely. The Police Commissioner has also emphasized the importance of adhering to these guidelines.
