PCMC takes action against people nailing posters on trees

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has adopted a resolute stance against the environmental violation of affixing unauthorised posters to city trees, with the aim of preventing their defacement. 

As per the information provided, the officials are committed to safeguarding the city’s flora and terminating the detrimental practice of attaching banners to trees. The municipal corporation has recently taken action against this unlawful conduct by lodging a First Information Report (FIR) against an anonymous individual responsible for the placement of illegal banners promoting Sainath Technical Institute and Yoddha Academy.

These banners were discovered affixed to trees in the Bhosari MIDC area. The garden department officials of the civic body have initiated legal proceedings by filing a formal complaint with the local police. The Bhosari MIDC police have registered a case against the unidentified person under Section 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, in conjunction with Section 14 of the Environment Protection Act. Ongoing investigations into the matter are currently underway.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Rajesh Vasave, Assistant Park Superintendent, PCMC, added, ”An FIR has been registered in this case. The police are conducting a thorough investigation, and further details will be provided about the same.”
