Pimpri Chinchwad: In a remarkable effort to promote environmental sustainability, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched the Harit Wari, Nirmal Wari initiative.

As part of this initiative, approximately 1 lakh seeds will be distributed to households during the upcoming Ashadhi Wari festival.

The Harit Wari, Nirmal Wari initiative is a tribute to the revered Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi ceremony, for which the PCMC has already demonstrated meticulous planning. This year, the focus has been on creating stunning floral decorations that have captured the attention of onlookers.

In addition to the captivating floral arrangements, the PCMC’s Garden Department has taken a significant step by implementing the concept of Harit Wari. Recognizing the urgency of tree conservation and greening, this initiative aims to distribute various indigenous tree seeds to local residents.

The Garden Department has developed a comprehensive plan to distribute 5,000 packets of seeds, including Saag, Raktakandan, Bahawa, Arjun, Karanj, Jambhul, Mango, Tamarind, Vilayati Tamarind, and Gulmohar.

By distributing these seeds, the PCMC aims to encourage residents to actively participate in creating a greener environment and contribute to the preservation of indigenous tree species. This initiative aligns with the larger goal of promoting sustainability and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility within the community.

The Harit Wari, Nirmal Wari initiative reflects the PCMC’s commitment to environmental conservation and demonstrates its dedication to creating a more sustainable and greener future for Pimpri-Chinchwad.
