Pune: Pune district is all set to get 3 more Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTT) in 3 Regional Transport Office viz. Alandi Road, Hadapsar and Dive Break Test track to ensure a better, effective & hassle-free driving test & selection process.

As per information, the ADTTs will include some state-of-the-art features like smartphone cameras for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) & Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs), cameras outside for 2-wheeler vehicles for tracking and testing things like the use of seatbelts, mirrors, facial recognition, traffic signal navigation, use of zebra crossings and more.

Speaking about the project Sanjeev Bhor, Deputy Commissioner, RTO, Pune said, “As per the decision of the government of Maharashtra of 23rd June 2020, Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTT) are going to be introduced in various locations across Maharashtra. In Pune, an automated driving test track is already there at the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) in Bhosari. The ADTTs are going to be completely digital & computerized. It will have various state-of-the-art features like a sensor base among others. 3 more ADTTs in Pune, at Alandi Road, Hadapsar and Dive Break Test Track, are going to be introduced soon which has got approval from the Motor Vehicle Department. I think that in a year or a year and a half’s time, the ADTTs will definitely start at these 3 locations.”

At present, Pune district has only two ADTT systems, one in Pune and another in Pimpri Chinchwad. These were implemented on a pilot basis in the year March 2015, aimed at LMV’s using eight shaped tracks with a complete computerised system. Over 3 lakh applicants have been tested so far.

Hence, the RTO has assured all citizens that soon, they won’t have to go all the way to CIRT Bhosari for driving tests as they can go to any of the other 3 RTO offices for driving tests soon.
