PCMC To Get 2,500 More CCTV Cameras in 15 Days

For better vigilance & monitoring, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will procure 2,500 more CCTV cameras for the city.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Babasaheb Galbale, Associate City Engineer, PCMC, said “We will get 2,500 more CCTV cameras in the upcoming 15 days. These will be installed in the entire city, BRTS lanes, Smart City areas etc. Some time back, we had procured 2,500 CCTV cameras. The upcoming cameras are a part of this order as we had asked for a total of 5,000 cameras.”

As per further information, CCTV cameras are benefiting the police administration to a great extent and are succeeding in cracking down on crimes. PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh stated that it will help in keeping the traffic system in order by cracking down on the drivers who violate the traffic.

The CCTV cameras have been installed at several places in the city and the system has the ability to capture the number plate and speed of vehicles crossing the signal.

The system is capable of automatically generating an alarm for a speeding vehicle. Also, the video evidence of the traffic violation vehicle is to be captured by the camera unit. Next, the ANPR system will process the captured image. It will be converted into alphanumeric text/number and will be used for issuing e-challan.
