Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) directed the authorities to complete the cleaning of all drains before May 20 in a review meeting held to conduct the drain cleaning operation, in the Municipal Corporation of Pimpri’s main administrative facility, the late Mayor Madhukar Pavle Auditorium on Friday.

During the review meeting, Patil directed officers and staff to address any obstacles to drain cleaning with their superiors and find solutions. He added that safety devices should be used to clean drains and JCB, Poclain, and spider machines should be used. Additionally, photos should be taken before and after the cleaning, and a cleaning report should be sent to the health department.

In addition, he gave the order that those responsible would be held accountable if blocked drains, encroachment on or within the drain, or decreased drain width were discovered. Cleaning all of the drains before the start of the monsoon is essential because it can be challenging to do so after the monsoon arrives in the first week of June.

Approximately 148 large and small drains have been addressed by each of the eight regional offices.  When cleaning, those in question should personally examine any problematic drains and address the issues. To facilitate rainwater drainage, the Additional Commissioner has directed that all silt be removed from both large and small drains and that the drains in low-lying regions be thoroughly cleaned.

On this occasion, he further provided information regarding the width, length, and location of the drain along with the date and percentage of the cleaning process.
