On Sunday 25 February 2024, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is going to conduct various environment-friendly activities on the auspicious occasion of Saint Gadge Baba Jayanti and National Science Day.
PMC conducts this program every year. It includes programs such as deep cleaning drive, Waste sorting awareness, and eradication of chronic waste spots.

Over 400 collection centres will be set up in the entire Pune City.
This initiative has been conducted to promote separate collection, proper management and scientific recycling of waste to solve the problem of e-waste and plastic waste.

“Pehel 2024” will be conducted by PMC in collaboration with Cummins India Foundation, KPIT and local social organizations in the field of environment and will initiate the e-waste and plastic collection campaign in Pune City. Interested citizens should register between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

Under this program:
E-waste and plastic will be collected in schools and colleges on 24th February.
Awareness programs will be organized at various levels on 18th February and sermons will be presented on 23rd February.
An appeal has been made by PMC where all the residents of Pune City are requested to actively participate in the “Pehel 2024” campaign on the day of collection and bring the e-waste or plastic generated at home to the nearest collection centre.

Following the event, the salvageable items from the collected e-waste will be repaired and donated to needy students and educational needs. The remaining will be handed over to the organizations registered by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board.
