Work from home is not good for company as well as for employees : TCS CEO

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) CEO, K Krithivasan, has reasserted the company’s dedication to discontinuing remote work during an event. 

He underlined the significance of employees observing colleagues and superiors in action, emphasizing the unique learning experiences derived from physical office interactions. Krithivasan stated that TCS values the principles of teamwork and fellowship, which he believes are challenging to cultivate in remote or hybrid work environments. 

Expressing concern about the 30-40% of TCS associates who joined during the pandemic, he questioned how they could assimilate the company’s values without physical presence in the office.

In alignment with Krithivasan’s stance, TCS Chief Operating Officer NG Subramaniam echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of offline interactions and the challenges faced by employees who joined and left online without any physical engagement. 

Subramaniam stressed the necessity of reinstating TCS’s original culture and emphasized the company’s commitment to getting employees back to the office.

Krithivasan underscored that TCS does not support remote work, asserting that the traditional office environment remains the most effective setting. He revealed that nearly all of their clients are eager to have employees back in the office, considering it the optimal approach to work. 

Despite extending the deadline for employees to return to the office, TCS has set the end of March as the final deadline for resuming office duties. 

Subramaniam warned of consequences for non-compliance, citing the importance of cybersecurity and the security risks associated with remote work. TCS, with a workforce exceeding 600,000 employees, recently leased 400,000 sq ft in Noida, emphasizing its commitment to in-office work culture.
