Pimple Saudagar Residents Rally for Diwali Clean-Up and Flood Relief Efforts in collaboration with Lions Club of Pimple Saudagar
As the city prepares for Diwali, the community of Pimple Saudagar is channeling the festive spirit into two significant social initiatives: a dedicated e-waste collection drive and a large-scale relief campaign for flood-affected families in Marathwada.
Turning Diwali Clean-Up into Responsible Action
Ahead of the festival of lights, residents Anjum Sayyad and Bhagyalaxmi Katari have launched an e-waste collection drive, urging households to responsibly dispose of old electronics during their Diwali cleaning.
“When we clean our homes for Diwali, we often discard many items. We requested residents to channel these electronic items to us,” said Anjum Sayyad, one of the organizers. Residents can contact the volunteers directly to arrange for the pickup of unwanted electronic items, ensuring they are recycled properly and kept out of landfills.
Extending Support to Marathwada Flood Victims
In a parallel effort, the Lions Club of Pimple Saudagar Active has launched a urgent relief drive for the flood-affected populations in districts like Beed, Latur, Solapur, and Nanded. The club is collecting essential supplies such as groceries, including sugar, rice, flour, and pulses, as well as new clothing like sarees, shirts, and dresses.
“The floods have devastated countless families. This is our chance to extend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters in Marathwada in their time of need,” a representative from the Lions Club stated.
