Pune: The Anti Extortion Squad of Pimpri Chinchwad Police has arrested 2 individuals for allegedly extorting money from a senior bank manager in Bhosari.
As per information, the victim, a senior manager of a national bank was threatened and blackmailed by the accused individuals saying that they had recordings and WhatsApp chats. They demanded Rs 2.5 Lakhs or else they threatened the victim that they would implicate him in a false crime.
The accused have threatened the victim of termination from the bank manager’s job, extorting Rs 25 thousand and demanding another Rs 2 Lakh extortion. The victim then approached the Commissioner of Police to complain about the issue.
Realizing the seriousness of the complainant, the Commissioner of Police entrusted Arvind Pawar, Senior Police Inspector of the Anti-Extortion Squad, to take immediate action.
Pawar laid a trap and arrested the accused identified as Ganesh Laxman Koli along with a woman who came to extort more money red-handed.
A case has been registered at Bhosari Police Station Case Reg. No. 824/2023 under Sections 384, 386, 387, 504, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Bhosari police station is conducting further investigation.
It is worthy to note that the Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad, has put up a flex in police stations that come under the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate, Pimpri Chinchwad to complain about extortion.
