BJP leader and former corporator has reported a disturbing incident involving an extortion attempt through a phone call made to him from abroad. He was contacted while at a hotel in the Lashkar area, with the caller demanding a hefty sum of ₹25 lakh.


The caller threatened political repercussions if the demanded amount wasn’t paid and also warned of circulating a compromising video on social media. He promptly filed a complaint with the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Crime Branch.


This isn’t the first time he has faced such threats; he has previously received similar intimidations. Fortunately, some individuals connected to these threats have been apprehended. However, the recent incident has reignited concerns, especially amidst Bidkar’s ongoing election campaign.


The police have swiftly launched an investigation into the matter. They’ve traced the mobile number used for the call to an international location. Further inquiries are underway to determine if the call was routed through a proxy or VPN from within India. To aid in this effort, assistance from the Cybercrime branch will be sought.


The incident has sparked discussions within political circles, highlighting the vulnerability of public figures to such malicious activities. His resilience in promptly reporting the incident sets an important precedent in dealing with extortion and threats.
