Hotel businesses within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits must conduct a structural audit of their commercial buildings within a month. Additionally, they must obtain fire safety and electrical safety no-objection certificates from the municipal corporation, instructed Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh to hotel operators.

These directives were given during a meeting held with hotel industry associations in the commissioner’s office at the main administrative building of PCMC. Commissioner Shekhar Singh presided over the meeting, which was attended by Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Deputy Commissioners Manoj Lonkar, Sandeep Khot, Anna Bodde, Executive Engineer Harvinder Singh Bansal, Fire Officer Rishikesh Chipade, and representatives of various hotel associations. Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar provided detailed information on the fire safety systems required at hotels.

The city has a large number of hotels, restaurants, bars, and other commercial buildings frequented by many citizens. For the safety of these citizens, all hotel, bar, restaurant, and other commercial building owners must conduct a structural audit within a month. They should also obtain fire safety and electrical safety no-objection certificates from the municipal corporation, stated Commissioner Shekhar Singh.

In the coming days, the municipal corporation will survey all hotels, bars, restaurants, hospitals, and commercial buildings in the city. Establishments found deficient during the survey will face strict action from the municipal corporation. Moreover, any hotels, bars, or restaurants found to be operating illegally will have their licenses revoked, he added.
