Pimpri-Chinchwad: Fire Destroys Tin-Shed Slum In Mahatma Phule Nagar, Major Mishap Averted
Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune: A major fire broke out in a tin-shed slum in the Mahatma Phule Nagar area of Pimpri-Chinchwad on Wednesday afternoon around 2 pm, completely gutting the settlement.
According to officials, the blaze rapidly spread across the tin structures, reducing the slum to ashes. The situation could have turned more dangerous as at least three LPG gas cylinders were present inside the affected area.
However, prompt action by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade helped avert a major disaster. Fire personnel safely removed all three cylinders from the site, preventing possible explosions.
The fire was brought under control with the help of two fire tenders. Preliminary findings suggest that the blaze may have been caused due to a short circuit, though further investigation is underway.
