Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation, along with various other societies, will file a petition against Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for the unjust taxes imposed on residents.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dattatray Deshmukh, Chairman, Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation said, “An extra amount of Rs 2000 is levied by the PCMC without any kind of justification. No one is paying attention towards this. Actually, the thing is around Rs 450 crore tax was imposed on an illegal construction some time ago, which has been waived off. Hence, I think, that’s why this extra tax is being imposed. Thus, we are going to file a petition in court.”

Sachin Siddhe, Chairman, Nano Homes Co-operative Housing Society, Ravet said, “The PCMC is levying this extra tax in the name of waste collection. It is imposed only on residential societies. We have appointed private vendors to dispose the collected waste. Hence, why is this extra tax imposed on us? Rs 18000 to 20000 is the amount we spend from our own pockets for daily waste disposal. The extra tax which is imposed is Rs 1800 per flat. There are a total of 332 flats in our society. When we ask, the PCMC says that the central government has imposed this.”

Anil Maurya, Chairman, Royale Rahadki Greens Phase 1, Rahatani said, “There are a total of 525 flats in our society. From 2019, an amount of Rs 60  per flat every month is collected from us in the name of garbage collection tax. There is no valid justification from the PCMC. Already Rs 12000 to 18000 property tax is levied from each flat by PCMC and now this unjustified tax is also imposed on us.”
