Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate Expands with Third Zone
Pune: Responding to the city’s growing population and the need for improved law enforcement, the state government granted approval on Monday for the establishment of a third zone within the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate.
Vinay Kumar Chaubey, the Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad City Police, expressed satisfaction with the government’s decision, stating that their proposal, which had been forwarded to the Home Ministry on May 17, 2023, was officially approved on September 4.
In 2018, the state had previously organized the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate into two zones and four divisions. As a result of the recent approval, two Deputy Commissioner-rank officers have been assigned to the Pimpri-Chinchwad police force.
Under the new arrangement, Sandeep Doiphode has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the newly established Zone 3, while DCP Shivaji Pawar has taken charge of the Traffic Department for Pimpri-Chinchwad City.
Zone 3 of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate will encompass two divisions, namely Chakan and Bhosari, covering areas including Chakan, Mahalunge, Alandi, Dighi, Bhosari MIDC, and Chikhali police stations. This expansion aims to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement in response to the city’s evolving needs.
