Pimpri Chinchwad Rail Passengers Will Soon Get World Class Facilities : Informs Shankar Jagtap
Marking the commemoration of India’s Amrit Utsav of Independence, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled plans to redevelop 508 railway stations across the nation under the ambitious ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ Scheme. Among these, Pimpri Chinchwad city’s Akurdi railway station has been identified for transformation, along with 44 other railway stations in Maharashtra.
Speaking at a press conference held in Pimpri, Shankar Jagtap, the BJP city president of Pimpri Chinchwad district, highlighted this momentous development. The event saw the presence of notable figures such as MLA Umatai Khapare, former authority chairman Sadashiv Khade, Amit Gorkhe, the Pimpri assembly election chief, Raju Durge, the BJP city general secretary, Namdev Dhake, former group leader, Ajit Kulthe, State Yuva Morcha secretary, Anup More, BJP Yuva Morcha state general secretary, and others.
Jagtap emphasized that the nationwide celebration of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” signifies a resolve to chart a new course of development for the country. In line with this, funding has been allocated for the comprehensive redevelopment of Akurdi Railway Station under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ initiative. The Central Government’s “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” program, comprising various events throughout the year, has spurred Pimpri Chinchwad’s BJP to organize a series of programs in the city from August 9 to 15.

Among the planned activities, the “Har Ghar Tiranga” and “Meri Mitti Mera Desh” campaigns will take center stage in Pimpri Chinchwad. As part of these efforts, each ward will feature plaques commemorating freedom fighters, accompanied by various associated programs. August 14 will witness tributes to those who lost their lives during the partition of the country.
MLA Uma Khapare expressed enthusiasm about the ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ scheme, asserting that railway passengers will soon experience world-class facilities at the designated railway stations. She lauded the inclusion of Akurdi railway station in Pimpri Chinchwad city under this scheme and shared that an allocation of around 33.83 crores has been sanctioned by the Central Government for development projects. The upcoming enhancements promise passengers enhanced amenities and services.
The transformative developments at Akurdi railway station encompass a range of improvements, including two entrances, spacious parking facilities for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, passenger waiting rooms, accommodations for important personnel, sliding stairs for platform access, restroom facilities, drinking water systems, and overall beautification of the station premises.

The initiative aligns with BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda’s directives for widespread programs across Maharashtra’s districts. The “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, reflecting a profound sense of patriotism, will be actively embraced by Pimpri Chinchwad residents from August 9 to 15. Notably, the ‘Meri Mitti Mera Desh’ program, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, will involve silent processions to honor freedom fighters, police personnel, and officers serving in various capacities.
In tandem with the larger objectives, schools and colleges across each mandal will host exhibitions that showcase poignant memories of India’s freedom struggle and the partition era. The comprehensive endeavors seek to instill a sense of national pride and unity, fostering a collective recognition of the sacrifices that paved the way for India’s independence.
