Pimpri-Chinchwad, February 5: Maharashtra’s young cricket sensation, Ishwari Avasare, played a crucial role in India’s U-19 women’s team, which clinched the T20 World Cup title for the second consecutive time. India secured a dominant 9-wicket victory over South Africa in the final, successfully chasing the target of 83 runs in just 11.2 overs.
Expressing her excitement over the win, Ishwari shared, “Playing at the international level was an unforgettable experience. Our composed performance in the final was crucial. Winning the World Cup for India is a moment beyond words.”
A Promising Journey in Cricket
Ishwari’s passion for cricket began at a young age. She joined coach Sunil Divekar’s academy at just eight years old and has since honed her skills as a leg-spinner, opening batter, and part-time wicketkeeper. At the age of 10, she had the opportunity to receive guidance from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and was also mentored by Sardar Patil, Varsharani Patil, and Vinayak Pawar.
At 13, Ishwari was selected for Maharashtra’s U-15 team. She made a mark in the U-19 state tournament, amassing 481 runs, including two centuries, in one-day matches. In the 2023-24 T20 season, she continued her stellar performance, scoring 325 runs with four half-centuries. Recognizing her talent, the Rotary Club of Pune honored her with the Prof. Deodhar Award.

Ishwari, who is currently pursuing her school education in Kolhapur, comes from a dedicated family—her mother is a teacher, while her father serves in the Indian Army.
