Residents of Pimpri Chinchwad demand regular water supply but the administration continues to supply water every alternate days

Pimpri: Due to the heavy rains in the dam catchment area in the last four days, Pavana Dam, which quenches the thirst of Pimpri-Chinchwad residents, is 49.30 per cent i.e. half full. This water storage is sufficient for the next six months. However, the Municipal Corporation clarified that the water supply will continue every alternate day. So, the residents have to wait a bit more for daily water supply.

Pavana Dam is the main source of water for various villages in the Maval region including Pimpri-Chinchwad. The water level in the dam was reduced to 17 per cent due to scanty rainfall earlier. The water storage in small dams like Andhra, Vadivale, and Tata in Maval has very little water left.

Since June 1, 1077 mm of rain has been recorded in the dam area. So, the water storage increased by 31.87 per cent. As a result, the water storage in the dam has reached 49.30 per cent. The water problem for the next six months has been solved and now the city dwellers are waiting for daily water supply.

Citizens are demanding daily water supply. The citizens are getting plenty of water as the water supply continues every other day. The administration claims that there has also been a reduction in the number of water complaints.

The municipal corporation started water supply every other day from November 25, 2019, specifying the reason for equitable water distribution. The water cut, which earlier was for a few days, continued indefinitely. Even after four and a half years, the residents are facing water cuts. They have now requested the administration to supply water daily.  The administration has claimed that a supply of water every alternate day is sufficient for the residents. It also said that the number of complaints about water cuts has reduced considerably.
