The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, also known as Mumbai Trans Harbour Link which was constructed at a cost of roughly Rs 17,840 crore, was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The longest bridge in the nation is Atal Setu, which is also the longest sea bridge.

The construction of Atal Setu has cost over Rs 17,840 crore in total. This six-lane bridge spans 21.8 km, with 16.5 km of that length above sea level and 5.5 km on land.

In addition to cutting down on travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa, and South India, it will offer quicker connectivity to both Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport. Additionally, it will enhance communication between Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Mumbai Port.

Speed Limit

There will be speed limits for vehicles on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link. For four-wheelers, such as cars, taxis, light motor vehicles, minibuses, and two-axle buses, the maximum speed limit is 100 kmph. To promote safety and minimize disruptions, the posted speed limit will be lowered to 40 kmph during the bridge’s ascent and descent. Tractors, motorbikes, and auto rickshaws, however, will not be allowed on the sea bridge.

Entry restricted for which vehicles?

Trucks, buses, and heavy multi-axle vehicles going to Mumbai will not be permitted to enter the Eastern Freeway. Instead, in order to continue moving, they must take the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C) and proceed along the MBPT Road close to Gadi Adda.

Toll Rates

The toll charges for passenger vehicles on the Sewri-Shivaji Nagar (Ulwe) segment have been adjusted to Rs 200, down from the previous Rs 250. Additionally, the toll for the 2.5km Shivaji Nagar-Gavhan segment is now set at Rs 50. This represents a modification from the earlier declaration of a uniform Rs 250 toll for the entire route. For a round trip, the toll has been fixed at Rs 300.

Additionally, he is scheduled to unveil projects in the state that are valued at more than Rs 30,500 crore.

PM Modi also opened the 27th National Youth Festival in Nashik, Maharashtra, earlier today.
