PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recently introduced new guidelines to ensure a smooth and secure celebration of Ganeshotsav in the city. Following a comprehensive meeting with Ganesh Mandals at the PMC building, the civic body has addressed various concerns raised by the organizers and the public.

As per the information, in terms of health and safety measures, Vikram Kumar, Municipal Chief has promised to provide health services during the festival. To maintain public hygiene, 400 mobile toilets will be set up throughout the city. Parking solutions have also been proposed, the use of the College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) ground in Shivaji Nagar as a designated parking zone. Additional parking spaces will also be made available in other areas of the city.

As per the information, Ganesh Mandals can take advantage of advertising displays on their mandaps, with no charges for advertising on pavilions that have a span of 50 meters. Security precautions have been emphasized by Sandeep Karnik, Joint Commissioner of Police, who has highlighted the need for collective efforts to counteract any potential chain snatching or illegal activities during the festival. Citizens can dial 112 to report emergencies such as mobile thefts.

Permissions for Ganesh idol stalls are currently being processed by Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Encroachment Department. Vendors should ensure that their applications are submitted by September 12. As per the information received, prime locations like Sarasbaug and Shaniwarwada will host these stalls. The PMC’s infrastructure plan includes road, chamber, and footpath repairs currently underway in preparation for the festival. CCTV installations at crucial points will increase surveillance. Additionally, the completion of Ganesh Khind roadwork and the provision of school grounds for parking are among the initiatives taken.
