The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is extending an invitation to all Punekars to voice their concerns and suggestions using the Citizen Participatory Budget Form for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25.

While some have applauded this initiative, others remain skeptical due to past experiences of unaddressed grievances.

Maithili Manakawad, a resident of Wanowrie, praised the move, stating, “PMC’s initiative to lend an ear to the concerns of ordinary citizens is commendable. The form provides a platform to address numerous issues, including the refurbishment and marking of footpaths and speed breakers, installation of alternate no-parking signs, and the proper maintenance of public toilets, among others.”

Rachna Agarwal, residing in Kalyani Nagar, recounted her experience, saying, “I submitted the participatory budget form last year as well, but none of the issues I raised were resolved. Promises were made, yet on-ground actions were scarce, leaving much on paper. However, as a hopeful and responsible citizen, I’ll participate in the budget form once more, with the aspiration that our voices will be heard this time.”

To submit their inputs, individuals can access the citizen participatory budget form via this link: https://pbpune.pmc.gov.in/.

The deadline for form submission is August 31, 2023. PMC’s call for active engagement aims to bridge the gap between citizens’ needs and municipal actions, fostering a more responsive and accountable governance.
