A total of 9 schools have been chosen in the areas of Pune, Kharadi, Parvati and Deccan to get the initiative up and rolling.

Most of the school students are dependent on autos or vans for their daily commutation to school. The Pune Municipal Corporation has introduced the concept of ‘safe school zone’ recently.

The ‘safe school zone’ has been made to help regulate the city traffic and also, help the students’ daily commutation easier.

The positives of ‘Safe school zone’

  • Traffic will be regulated during school drop and pick-up time.
  • Traffic policemen will be posted on all roads leading to the school.
  • Parking of vehicles other than school vans in school premises.
  • It will be easier for children who cycle or walk to and from school.

The plan for traffic regulation has been drawn up after taking inputs from experts.
