PMC must file criminal cases against builder for false ‘water affidavits’, demands AAP Pune

Citizens should also pressurise PMC to take action, said the party press release.

It was the Aam Aadmi Party that raised the issue of water rights and subsequently, Pune Municipal Corporation has started taking action. Buildings which do not have water supply have started receiving notices from the Pune Municipal Corporation for not having water supply. While the notices warned of action, no penal action was taken.

As per the press release from the Aam Aadmi party, PMC is not taking responsibility and instead is issuing building permits by taking affidavits from builders which puts the onus of the builders to supply water to the residents of the respective projects.

AAP is questioning the rationale behind issuing these affidavits because if PMC cannot provide water, how can the builders do the same. AAP terms this step as ‘illegal’.

While on one hand, PMC is not taking responsibility, on the other hand, builders are not honouring their commitment. It is only residents who are left to suffer.

Also, residents become dependent on the tanker lobby who exploit the former.

AAP insists that PMC should file criminal cases against builders who have given false affidavits, while citizens should also pressurize PMC for the same.
