Traffic restrictions in place between Dehu road and Chandani chowk

The ban came into effect from September 1and will go on till midnight of September 30.

The ongoing metro work at Chandani chowk has irked motorists who often get stuck in long queue of vehicles. Last week, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde himself experienced the traffic congestion first-hand. The CM immediately instructed various departments to initiate action into resolving the issue. Following discussions held with various departments such as NHAI, Pune Metro, Pune city traffic, PMC, PCMC, Highway Police, it was decided to ban entry of all heavy types of vehicles from 6 PM to 9 PM on various roads between Dehu road and Chandani chowk. The ban came into effect from September 1and will go on till midnight of September 30.

The information was announced by Anand Bhoite, Deputy Commissioner of Police, traffic, Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate. The entry of vehicles will be restricted at Chandani chowk, Kothrud, Katraj, Bhugaon road on National Highway 4, Sus Pashan Khind road and University chowk.

The heavy vehicles of all types passing from Bhugaon – Mulshi road, Chandani Chowk to Dehu road via Kiwale, Katraj (Satara road) and Kothrud will not be allowed during this time. Also, heavy vehicles plying from Khadakwasla NDA road towards Satara road via Chandani Chowk will not be allowed to enter the city.
