PMC penalizes advertisers putting up illegal hoardings ; Recovers Rs 63 lakh fine from offenders

Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking punitive action against illegal banners and hoardings that are placed without obtaining permission in the city. A fine of Rs 23 lakh 89 thousand has been recovered from the action on unauthorized boards and banners, while a fine of Rs 40 lakh has been recovered from the action on unauthorized hoarding.

As per information, banners are allowed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). But many times they are placed without taking proper permissions. Therefore, PMC is taking action against unauthorized hoardings and banners through PMC.

34 new villages have been included in PMC jurisdiction. There are more than 2 thousand authorized hoardings in the city. Apart from those, others are unauthorized.

After taking action against illegal hoardings a hefty fine of Rs 50 thousand is imposed on the hoarding owner. If the appropriate fine is not paid on time, the fine is levied in the property tax of the person. A fine of Rs 5000 is imposed after action is taken on 10 unauthorized hoardings. After that, a fine of Rs 500 for each unauthorized hoarding is imposed.

Pune Pulse tried contacting the relevant PMC official but couldn’t connect till the filing of this report.
