PMC to provide saplings of native trees at nominal rate to citizens; kicks off Van Mahotsav initiative

Pune Municipal Corporation kicked off ‘Van Mahotsav’ an initiative to plant more trees and increase the green cover of the city. In this, the citizens shall be provided saplings at a nominal cost.

The saplings shall be made available at the Sambhaji Udyan on Jangli Maharaj road. The initiative was taken to promote the importance of tree plantation and nature conservation.

Citizens can buy saplings of tamarind, Kanchan, Palas, Mohar, Badam, Nevar, Jamun, Deodar, Karnal, Karanj, Rohitak, etc. This Van Mahotsav shall be celebrated till August 14, 2021.

The program is organised by Ashok Ghorpade, chief garden superintendent, Pune Municipal Corporation and member secretary.
