PMC to scrap garbage disposal project at Sus Road

The Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to scrap the garbage project at Sus Road. Also, the search for a new place for this project has been started.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sandip Kadam, Deputy Commissioner, Solid Waste Management Department, PMC, said “This decision was taken during a meeting with Maharashtra Deputy CM & Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar. It will take over 2 months to find a new place for the garbage project. The search for a new location is on. A probable location of the new place for the garbage project is Nande. The PMC is finding a place which would be of 2 – 2.5 acre space.”

As per further information, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had ordered the closure of the garbage project on Sus Road till December 31. However, no action was taken by the Pune Municipal Corporation. It was said that a solution would be found regarding this project. The Municipal Corporation has finally decided to scrap this project and it is going to be planned to find a place and build this project at a new place in the next four months.

A senior PMC official said that the PMC has decided to relocate the garbage project from Sus Road. So, search for a new location is being made for this project. The project will be started at the new location in the last week of March or April 2024.
