PMC’s final ward delimitation to be released by May 17
The state election commission has written to the commissioner of 15 municipal corporations including Pune, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Solapur, Nashik, Thane, Pimpri Chinchwad, Vasai Virar, Ulhas Nagar, Kolhapur, Amravti and Kalyan Dombivli to publish the final draft of ward delimitation by May 17 on the corporation website.
The draft ward structure was approved on January 28, 2022 by the state election commission.
The draft ward structure was released on February 1, 2022 in the government resolution. The suggestions and objections were heard between February 17-26, 2022.
The draft was then proposed to the state election commission by the state government on March 5, 2022.
The draft ward structure which was then proposed to the state election commission was challenged in the supreme court by many complainants which were slated for hearing on May 4, 2022. On this day, the Supreme court informed that the process for election should start afresh which were closed on March 10, 2022.
Since the process for ward structure is still incomplete, the election officers and staff involved in the process were asked to complete the structuring work between May 6-10.
The election commission has now asked the officials to study the ward structure work and finalize them and make them for publishing in the government resolution as per mentioned below :
State Election commission had asked to complete the process between May 6-10. Accordingly, the process should be complete by May 11, 2022.
The final draft of ward structure should be ready for approval from the state election commission in Marathi and English language for release by May 12, 2022
The complete process of publishing the final draft structure after releasing it as a GR in Marathi and English with maps must be published on the municipal corporation website till May 17, 2022.
