PMPML bus crashes into society wall on Karve road; no injuries reported

Pune: A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) bus faced a narrow escape after it veered off the road while driving down a slope, climbed on a footpath and crashed through the compound wall of the Yashoda housing society on Karve Road around 2.50 pm on Friday.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rajesh Tatakare, Police Inspector, at Alankar Police Station said, “On Friday (September 22) when we got information about a PMPML bus being stuck at Dahanukar Circle at Karve Road, our beat marshals visited the spot. The bus was immediately removed from the spot. After checking for the cause of this, it was found out that the air rod of the brake had failed due to which the driver of the bus lost control & thus while trying to stop it somehow, this incident happened. We have not received any complaints regarding the accident.”
As per further information by Tatakare, since no passenger was there on the bus fortunately nobody was injured. The driver is also safe but a major accident could have been avoided as the crash site is located on a busy road that runs from Warje flyover intersection to Karve statue intersection. The bus crossed the T-junction near Vandevi temple and was proceeding downhill towards Dahanukar Circle when it lost control and hit the compound wall near the circle.
