Pune: To address increasing traffic congestion, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has proposed constructing a Ring Road encircling Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The project includes 15 vital interchanges to enhance connectivity, with a budget of ₹147.50 crore.
As part of the initiative, three new roads will be developed to improve the region’s transport infrastructure:
- Mutha Nadi Top to Urawade: 3.5 km road with a budget of ₹19.25 crore.
- Chandkhed to Kasarsai: 5 km road with an allocation of ₹27.50 crore.
- Nighoje to Moi: 3.6 km road with a budget of ₹75 crore.
PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase highlighted that the proposed Ring Road and its interchanges aim to enhance connectivity and reduce traffic congestion.
The Ring Road will pass through nine talukas within the PMRDA limits, including Maval, Khed, Shirur, Haveli, Daund, Purandar, Bhor, Velhe, and Mulshi. Currently, 12 of the planned 15 interchanges are operational.
