Pune, Sep 3: The city-based politicians and industrialists have welcomed the reports in a section of media that claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Pune constituency.

With Pune Lok Sabha seat falling vacant after the death of BJP MP Girish Bapat, PM Modi will likely be BJP’s candidate in this constituency in upcoming elections, many party workers expressed on Saturday.

Former BJP MP Sanjay Kakade who has always been in the news due to his working style, has written a letter directly to Modi and demanded that he contest the Lok Sabha elections from Pune.

He wrote in the letter that, “When you contested previous elections from Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, BJP got 90 to 100 per cent success in those states. In Pune your victory will be 100 per cent.”

National president of Agarwal Marwari Chamber of Commerce Industries Education (AMCCIE), Rajesh Agarwal, also welcomed the media reports about PM Modia to contest from Pune, saying the long-held dream of every citizen to make Pune a world-class city and largest international airport will come true.

He further said that the Prime Minister is likely to visit Pune soon again since few BJP leaders have been camping in Pune since last month to sense the mood of citizens.

Industrialists Kamalraj Bansal and Narendra Goyal said that they would also meet the Prime Minister and persuade him to contest from the Pune Lok Sabha seat this time.
