Poona Bango Sanmilani Celebrates 5-Day Durga Puja In Hadapsar
Durga Puja, or Durgotsav, is a prominent Hindu festival celebrated in West Bengal and across India, symbolizing the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura, representing the triumph of good over evil. This grand festival lasts ten days, with the final five being the most significant.
The Poona Bango Sanmilani Durgotsav Samiti is organizing a five-day Durga Puja celebration in East Hadapsar, from October 8 to 13, 2024. According to Abhijit Dey, General Secretary, the event will feature traditional rituals, including Mahaprasad (feasts) on October 10th, 11th, and 12th, marking Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami. Maha Aarti will follow in the evening, and cultural performances will begin at 7:30 PM.
The beautifully crafted Durga idols will be placed in elaborately decorated pandals, drawing large crowds of devotees. The festival fosters social unity, with its blend of religious rituals, cultural events, and communal meals. The celebration concludes with the immersion of Durga’s idol, symbolizing her return to the heavens.
Durga Puja also boosts local crafts and businesses, promoting cultural heritage and social harmony throughout the region.
