Prepare traffic management plan in Lonavala, instructs Pune collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh

Lonavla is loved by tourists from not only Pune and Mumbai but also by tourists from around the country but often traffic congestion causes a major hurdle in the area. Pune district collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has asked to draw a well studied plan for traffic management of the area. A meeting was held under the guidance of Dr Deshmukh at the Lonavala Municipal Council on the various traffic related issues. The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Mitesh Ghatte, Mulshi Maval deputy divisional officers Sandesh Shirke, Vadgaon Maval Tahsildar Madhusudhan Barge, Municipal Council president Pandit Patil.

Deshmukh stated that a review of the traffic situation must be taken after considering the suggestions from NGOs, retailers, auto unions, and citizens. Also, a petition will be shared with the state government as the local residents have to pay toll at Kusgaon Toll Naka and Varsoli Toll Naka. Steps to boost tourism must be taken by creating basic infrastructure for the tourists. Lonavla city police station inspector Dubal informed about the need for creating an alternate route to reduce traffic congestion from Apollo Garage to Bharat Petroleum Pump,  creating more parking spaces for vehicles, better signalling system, control on dog menace, squatters and illegal hawkers.
